Apple just wrapped up its September keynote, and it was jam-packed with news and announcements, including the new iPhone 13 Series! So let’s go through all those announcements one by one.

iPad

The new iPad will come with Apple’s iPad A13 Bionic. Apple claims it makes the tablet up to 3 times faster than the latest Chromebooks and up to 6 times faster than any Android tablet. The new iPad will also support the first-generation Apple Pencil.

iPad Mini starts at $329 with double the storage. It comes with a new 12MP ultra-wide selfie camera with Center Stage support.

The iPad is priced starting at $329 and will start shipping next week. The iPad starts at Rs. 30,900 for the Wi-Fi and Rs. 42,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model in India.

iPad Mini

iPad Mini gets a huge upgrade this time. iPad Mini will come with the 8.3-inch screen Liquid Retina Display, 500 nits brightness, True Tone, and wide color. iPad Mini also got a design refresh and the home button has moved on top which also includes the Touch ID.

iPad Mini will be powered by the very powerful A13 Bionic chip. Cameras also gets a spec bump with a 12MP sensor with f/18 aperture and focus pixels and True Tone flash, smart HDR, etc. 4K video recording. Front has a 12MP ultrawide camera that supports Center Stage.

The new iPad mini will come with 5G and feature a USB Type-C port just like the iPad Air. The iPad Mini will also support the 2nd Gen Apple Pencil. The new iPad mini starts at $499. Pre-orders start today and the tablet starts shipping next week.

The new iPad mini starts in India at Rs. 46,900 for Wi-Fi and Rs. 60,900 Wi-Fi + Cellular models.

Apple Watch Series 7

Next up on the agenda is the Apple Watch.  Apple Watch Series 7 looks very much like the previous design, with a much larger screen.  Rumors were that we’d see flatter sides, but not so much! Instead a much, much bigger screen.

The Apple Watch Series 7 gets a new design. Its new Retina Display is 20 percent larger than the Watch Series 6. The borders are 40 percent thinner and the buttons are larger for easy access. 

Apple says its the most durable Apple Watch ever with crack resistant front crystal and IP6X dust resistance. Apple boasts an eighteen-hour battery life, and it charges 30 percent faster. According to Apple, eight minutes of charge is enough for eight hours of sleep tracking.

Apple Watch Series 7 will be available in five new colors and the closure comes in aluminum, stainless steel, titanium. There are new Nike and Hermes versions too. 

Apple Watch Series 3 is now $199, Apple Watch SE $279, and the Series 7 will be $399. Series 7 will be available later this fall. Pricing for Indian customers hasn’t been revealed yet by Apple.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini Series

Let’s talk about iPhones. The new iPhones come in the same ceramic shield front on the glass, with IP68 water resistance. iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini come with a more advanced display, 28 percent brighter. 800 nits, and 1200 nits HDR peak brightness with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG support.

Powered by A15 Bionic chip, the new iPhones are up to 50% faster computing and up to 30% faster graphics performance than the competition. A15 is a 5nm part. Six-core CPU with two high performance and four efficiency cores.

Talking about cameras now, sensor-shift optical image stabilization of the iPhone 12 Pro Max comes to iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, along with a new 12MP wide-angle camera in a dual-camera setup. The new camera system gathers 47 percent more light with larger 1.7micron pixels and an f1.5 aperture.

There’s a new “Cinematic Mode” for video that allows rack focusing. The Cinematic Mode tracks the focus of a moving subject automatically. It shoots in Dolby Vision HDR with the help of A15 Bionic.

iPhone 13 also get more bands for 5G support in more places and faster speeds.

Coming to battery life, the iPhone 13 Mini should get an extra 1.5 hours compared to the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13 gets an extra 2.5 hours compared to iPhone 12.

The iPhone 13 mini starts at $699 and the iPhone 13 is priced starting at $799 in the US. The starting variants of both the phones now come with 128GB storage instead of 64GB.

In India, the iPhone 13 Mini will start at Rs. 69,900 and the iPhone 13 will start at Rs. 79,900.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max

Tim Cook states that, “Our most pro iPhone ever”. The new iPhone 13 Pro models come in four finishes – Graphite, Gold, Silver, and a new Sierra Blue finish. The front is “new” with a 20 percent smaller notch. The iPhone 13 Pro models come with the same A15 Bionic processor but in the Pro models, there’s a five-core GPU.

The iPhone 13 Pro models have a new Super Retina XDR display with 1,000 nits peak brightness and, finally, ProMotion variable refresh rate. The screen can go from 10Hz to 120Hz. Adaptive frame rates on the iPhone 13 Pro with ProMotion claims to deliver a lag-free experience. A good news for artists and gamers.

Talking about the cameras, the new iPhone 13 Pro models come with a new 77mm telephoto for 3x optical zoom. It features 92 percent improvement in low light for ultra-wide and a new wide camera with 2.2x improvement in low light. The ultra-wide can also capture macros with a minimum distance of 2 cm.

Other features are, all cameras including the telephoto have night mode, “Smart HDR 4” is new branding for Smart HDR. You can also customize Smart HDR with photographic profiles, for different looks. ProRes 4k30 recording is also coming to the camera app later.

Talking about battery life, iPhone 13 Pro will last more than 1.5 hours longer than iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max will last 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The iPhone 13 Pro will start at $999 and the iPhone 13 Pro Max will start at $1,099. There’s a new 1TB storage option available only for the Pro models.

The iPhone 13 Pro will start at Rs. 1,19,900 and the iPhone 13 Pro Max will start at Rs. 1,29,900. in India.

Preorders for the iPhone 13 Series will be open on Friday and availability at September 24th.
